We are incredibly grateful to the following trusts for their support of our expedition objectives. So far, we have recieved support, advice and encouragement from the following:

GRANTS

We have been fortunate enough to be awarded the 2019 Wallace Watson Award. The award is dedicated to the memory of Wallace Watson and is to encourage and assist members of St. Catherine's College to undertake expeditions or travel of a challenging nature and thereby foster and inner strength of character and a broadening of the mind.

The Gino Watkins Memorial Fund has supported this expedition with a grant towards our objectives. The Gino Watkins Memorial Fund gives grants towards expeditions that meet its objectives of guiding and inspiring enterprising young people towards scientific research and exploration in the polar regions. 

 

 

The Andrew Croft Memorial Fund has awarded us their Swithinbank Award. The award commends particular initiative and purpose to meet a combination of scientific and personal, character building objectives. The ACMF, amongst other objectives, exists to advance the of education of young people below the age of thirty in such subjects which can be advanced by research and field work particularly in the Arctic by the provision of grants to such persons to enable them to participate in scientific expeditions.

 

The Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust has provided us with a grant to support our expedition objectives. The Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust is a charity set up in tribute to and memory of Jeremy Willson. The charity helps people and projects that reflect Jeremy’s passions in life: athletics, geology, adventure and the environment.

The Alpine Ski Club has provided us with a grant in recognition of our ski mountaineering and exploration objectives. The Alpine Ski Club exists to promote mountaineering on ski and to encourage good fellowship amongst ski mountaineers; to encourage mountaineering expeditions on ski throughout the world and to promote a better knowledge of the mountains in winter.

The Imperial College Exploration Board has given our expedition full approval, along with associated support and advice. The Exploration Board supports expeditions by students of Imperial College London, with a focus on expeditions that combine challenging adventures with high scientific value.

The Leathersellers' Company Charitable Fund provides a wide range of funding to UK registered Charities, Educational Institutions and University Students. They have kindly agreed to support the safety and insurance aspects of our expedition.

The A.C. Irvine Travel Fund has provided us with support in recognition of our mountaineering and exploration objectives. The Fund exists to assist students at the University of Oxford on expeditions in the mountains either in Britain or abroad.

The City and Guilds College Association Old Centralian's Trust General Award provides support for student led endeavours that further the educational aims of the Trust.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The IET Travel Award is awarded to members to help support students conducting international research projects abroad. This support will facilitate our effort to understand glacial microbial species using Oxford Nanopore sequencing
